In triple Franco-Anglo news, I'm being featured in some great magazines this winter: as a model as well as an author with a bilingual article on fat shaming and body issues in opera in Alizé La Vie; then a commissioned editorial on revolutions in women's fashion for Paris-based Ronde & Glamour; and finally an amazing, touching interview I did with a local Buffalonian for the SCAR Project will be out in winter 2015 Black & White issue of bilingual Volup2 - Paris-based magazine founded by WNY-native Velvet d'Amour.
So much amazing news has come in this week! To start, I am beyond elated to be performing onstage with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in Bartok's chamber opera Bluebeard's Castle. The stunning set from the Seattle production is by Dale Chihuly! Read more about this amazing collaboration in The News, Business First, Artvoice and Buffalo Rising.
In equally amazing news, I've been selected to walk in Uptown Fashion Week in NYC, in the first-ever Plus Showcase for this high fashion, avant-garde show. Read this article in the NY Daily News about the high profile event! Check out my Press page for the latest video and image links.
In the meantime, I'm being flown out to NYC this weekend (during MBNYFW no less) for my fit model job - the designer is in from LA! And to wrap it up? A few smaller job offers including opera roles (more info soon), blogging, and another magazine cover...
Good news - I'm a staff writer for Alizé La Vie Magazine, a bilingual print and online publication based in NYC and Paris. In addition, I'll be featured in an interview and fashion spread in an upcoming issue. Representatives from the magazine approached me in Paris after the Pulp'Fashion Week show, so this is very exciting! My first article on the spate of critical fat shaming in opera will be published in Autumn 2014.
I've been hired for a long-term contract as a fit model in NYC and LA working with some great designers... more info as I can reveal it! I'm also now shooting a lookbook for top designers in Paris this May. My image has already been published in Style-ology Magazine this month, and in May look for a spread on me in Model Call Magazine.
I am beyond elated to tell you I'm walking in a major international fashion show in Paris this spring! Ma tête tourne. Pulp'Fashion Week Paris organized by Histoire de Courbes gets serious press around the world, with some of the top plus designers and models in Europe, so I am jumping for joy! Ah, April (and May) in Paris... In addition, the drama company I Co-Founded, HIDden Theatre, is invited back to the York Mystery Plays 2014. HIDden will present The Baptism on one of the coveted wagons in this amazing event. Finally, the book presenting the research upon whichVivaldi's Women is based, Micky White's Antonio Vivaldi: A Life in Documents, is now available for purchase. The group will go on a book tour of England, I'll join them later this year in Venice.
Here's a holiday mish-mash... This month I'm leading a session in Model Boot Camp 101 to young and aspiring models. I've also been asked by Opera Sacra to sing at their Verdi-Wagner bicentennial gala concert. For opera lovers, we invite you to watch the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (Buffalo/Toronto District) on Jan 4th. I'll be singing in New Year's Day services at St. Paul's as well. In the background, I'm producing Model & Opera demo reels with the good folks at Arlington Place Pictures. In the meantime check out this featured Spotlight Model interview.
I've got a number of high fashion modeling events coming up during the chilly months. First I'm walking for custom bridal/ gown designer Made by Anatomy for Mass Appeal 2013. Next is my luxe editorial shoot with Mark Callen Photography and Franci Jewelry in a mansion, finishing with more bridal couture in January for the Winter Hotel Lafayetteshoot with R.J.Z. Photography and M. A. Carr Bridal. Lastly we have a portfolio and an outerwear outdoors shoot with out of this world photographer Luke Copping.
It's been a while since I updated the News section, but not for lack of exciting new information... modeling has taken up lots of my time time lately! Although I was able to combine singing and modeling in Venice, after our performance of Un Vespro Venexiano I met a photographer and squeezed off a photoshoot. Now, in addition to walking in many local shows in WNY, I'm very proud to be a part of the video-based Confidence is the Key Project, managed by Evolve and Skorch magazines, bringing together plus models and fashion insiders from around the world, sharing their stories of confidence. And I've been invited back by OperaBuffs of WNY to give a Lecture during National Opera Week on the pre-history of opera. Vocális Chamber Choir will embark on a professional tour of England in summer 2014, playing amazing venues in and around the capitol. I'm excited for another season with this fantastic ensemble in the WNY and Niagara region. In the meantime, I'm taking small solo gigs at services (including a professional position at St. Paul's Schola Cantorum), fundraisers and private events, which has been fun. And starting in late October, I'll be onstage with Diva By Diva at the award-winning O'Connell & Company. This cabaret style all-female performance celebrates its Sweet 16 this year in WNY's longest running show.
I've been lucky to book some amazing fashion work this month, with more to be announced shortly! First, I've been appointed the Managing Editor of Fashion Maniac, a WNY-based fashion, beauty & lifestyle web magazine, producing articles, editorial photo-shoots, industry breaking news, collection reviews, and designer profiles. I'm also the official east coast American correspondent for VOL•UP•2, an amazing high fashion magazine out of Paris celebrating curves and diveristy, founded by superstar plus model and Rochester native Velvet d'Amour. I'll be covering New York and Florida for now... I'm so pleased to be on board for both publications, this is very exciting! For modeling, I'm walking in these shows: F.I.T. Connecting the Dots Sustainable Fashion Show; walking AND performing an opera aria at the 7 Chances Charity Runway on the Water on the historic USS Sullivan Battleship in Buffalo Harbor; Báles Clothing's Premiere FAMErunway show during Mercedes-Benz Buffalo Fashion Week with lookbook shoot/ press call; and 1426 Fashion Week in Miami!

Come by and see me in the store on Saturday 8 June 10-2 (then come back to the area that evening for my opera concert!) And in the performance world, I've joined WNY's newest early music ensemble, the Fredonia Camerata. I'm really looking forward to joining them this fall!
I was so surprised, proud and pleased to be chosen as the cover model for the Sept. 2012 issue of Lioness Magazine! Visit my Press section to learn more about the magazine, the great organization behind it, and photo credits. Also I'm starting another small side career as a professional stylist for fashion shoots! Great news - I was just selected out of 100s to be one of the 18 models featured in the Help for Heroes: Hollywood for Heroes Charity Calendar 2013! It will be available to purchase nation-wide and internationally by July on ebay.co.uk, inspired by iconic movies from the 1940s/1950s era. A videographer will film behind-the-scenes footage at the photoshoots and interviews with the models featuring in the calendar, which will be shown via YouTube, as a publicity campaign.
