SPAV ("Vivaldi's Women") tours the eastern United States. Called Vivaldi and the Women of the Pietà, this new dramatized performance is being created for this special tour (Nikolaus Morris is writing the script). 12 March 2011 - SENSORIUM - DUBLIN

The Link Project takes Sensorium on the road. Sue will give the Irish premiere of noitcelfeRReflection by Emily Kalies at this weeklong festival. Our goal is to showcase and promote music in innovative arrangements including contemporary music, improvisation, electronic music, electro-acoustic music, music and image, music and dance and performance art, along with other co-creative media. The aim of the events is to stimulate multiple senses and challenge the audienceÕs attention through changing aesthetics and perceptions. Funded by a very generous grant from The Arts Council of Ireland. -
13 December 2010 - MEDIEVAL CHRISTMAS DRAMAS
The British Museum; London (time tba)
HIDden Theatre, York's newest historical theatre troupe, and Trinacria Productions present Medieval Christmas dramas, to be performed in the spectacular surroundings of the British Museum. In addition to some Medieval holiday music, enjoy the Towneley Cycle First Shepherd's Play and the N-Town Offerings of the Three Kings. Sue's company Trinacria Productions will produce this concert as their inaugural event, and Sue will also star in the plays as an actress. -

The Royal Musical Association's Postgraduate Study Day, "Collaborations in Practice Led Research," aims to explore the role of collaboration within practice-led research in music and hopes to examine the creative process within the setting of collaborative partnerships. Suzanne and composer Emily Kalies wil give a lecture-recital based on the January 2010 premiere of noitcelfeRReflection as part of The Link Project at Sensorium. 8 September 2010 - MONTEVERDI VESPERS

Sue has been selected, as a Tenor, to join Philip Thorby for the 400-year anniversary performance of this masterwork by Monteverdi, in Venice, at the Frari church, with period instruments. Monteverdi is buried in the Frari, and we will be performing the work on one of the feast days for which Monteverdi may have written it. I will be singing some of the tenor solos! The Lords of Misrule, as the York Guild of Curriers, presents a Middle English version of the mystery play The Transfiguration at this charming 12th century church. We are performing in conjunction with the Pontifical High Mass according to The Use of York, with music by The Ebor Singers. -

The York Medieval Mystery plays take place only every 4 years, and Sue is very excited to be a lead role in the play The Transfiguration, as John the Apostle. The Lords of Misrule will perform the play (in Modern English) four times each Sunday in locations throughout town, on a movable wagon! 16 - 23 June 2010 - VIRIDITAS RECORDING

Viriditas Opera records its first CD this week, with recording engineer David Rose; repertoire includes Medieval music-drama, such as my solo, the Planctus Maria Heu! Me misera (France-Tours 927). The goal is to record Medieval music-dramas that feature surround-sound and experiment with placement of singers that give interesting effects in the recording; the CD will be available for commercial sale, and will be supported by a US and UK tour next year. -

Barocca is an innovative all-female production combining Baroque music, gorgeous costumes, light staging, and a stunning multimedia dramatic presentation. Sue will sing the Tenor lead role of Testo in Monteverdi's Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda as well as in the Alto chorus in Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. The UK premiere follows previous Italian productions, which received great acclaim. See the Barocca page for more information about the rescheduled performance. -

Sue will sing "Nigra sum" as a female Tenor, with gamelan accompaniment, from underneath a train! From the galleries, from the depths, from amid the historic locos - the sounds of Europe and Asia ring out. Multiple performers burst forth into the magnificent spaces of the Great Hall of the Railway Museum with adaptations and arrangements of works as various as Monteverdi Vespers of 1610, well-known Japanese melodies and new works especially composed for the occasion. World-premiere of noitcelfeRReflection by Emily Kalies, a one-woman multimedia musical and dramatic presentation. Sensorium is part of The Links Project, and presents a diverse evening of interactive visual, aural and haptic installation work and performances designed to stimulate the senses. Experience a series of immersive, cross-media artworks presented within winding paths and pockets of light in the Guildhall. Video by Rheya Brigden and Dan Vivash. Performance installation - 7-10pm flexible entry, licensed bar, all proceeds benefit the Lord Mayor's charities. -

Led by Graham Coatman and Suzanne Fatta, the day will explore the influence of the late Renaissance Venetian tradition of polychoral music, and its assimilation by non-Italian composers (Gabrieli, Monteverdi, Hassler, Schütz and Zielinski.) SPAV ("Vivaldi's Women") sings at the world-famous Festival Mediterranea in Gozo, Malta. Concert of music by Vivaldi, with original instruments and costumes. Artistic Director Richard Vendome also presents an organ concert the previous day on an 18th century instrument he has restored. -

World-premiere of Ultime mie speranze, a song written for Sue by composer FL Dunkin Wedd. The poem, translated by me, is by my great-grandfather, and expresses his desire to return to his homeland in Sicily. Enjoy the Festival Mediterranea's inaugural event with the unique experience of hearing a late 18th century British Pipe Organ in the relaxing ambience of the parish house of St George's Basilica with organist Richard Vendome. -

Sue is featured as a Bass singer with Schola Pietatis Antonio Vivaldi ("Vivaldi's Women") in a documentary on Sky Arts Channel for Venice: Pure City by Peter Ackroyd. Peter Ackroyd's Venice begins a 4-part series featuring the music of SPAV, as the relationship between Vivaldi and the women of the Pietà is explored. Special focus on early works of the Renaissance period - Machaut to Dunstable via Josquin as part of an intense practical survey of the whole period.
